Priya sells packaging equipment, and Tactiq has been quietly good to her. Every Google Meet call with a buyer ends with a clean transcript in her browser, and no bot ever joins to make anyone nervous.
Then she counted her week. Six video calls, all captured. Nine customer meetings in plant offices and on loading docks, none captured. Her best conversations were the ones with no browser tab open. (Priya is a composite, but her week is a common one.)
If that sounds like your calendar, you're probably looking for a Tactiq alternative. Tactiq does one job well: it transcribes meetings inside your browser. The question is how many of your meetings happen there.
Below: what Tactiq does and where it stops, a coverage map of where your meetings happen, five alternatives side by side, and how to choose. Every price comes from the vendor's own page, checked on October 4, 2026.

What Tactiq does well, and where it stops
Tactiq calls itself an "AI Note Taker for Google Meet, Zoom & Teams." It runs as a Chrome extension, so it transcribes live without sending a bot into the call. Its homepage puts it plainly: "Get live transcriptions without an AI bot joining the meeting." For people whose customers dislike bots, that's a real strength.
Three limits come up again and again when people go shopping for a Tactiq alternative.
It lives where the meeting app lives. The extension covers Meet, Zoom, and Teams in the browser. A Mac app in beta now handles Zoom Desktop, Teams desktop, and Slack huddles, but for Windows the help center says only "We are exploring a Windows version." For a meeting in a room, you record on another device and upload the file from the dashboard.
One language at a time. Tactiq's language guide says it "transcribes one selected language at a time and does not automatically switch between multiple spoken languages in the same meeting." The list of languages also varies by platform.
AI runs on credits. On Tactiq's pricing page, one AI credit covers "a single AI action," such as a summary or a question. When you run out, "Tactiq keeps transcribing, but AI features pause until your limit resets."
Tactiq pricing (checked October 4, 2026)
The pricing page shows prices in your local currency. In US dollars, billed annually per user a month:
- Free: $0, with 10 transcripts and 5 AI credits a month.
- Pro: $8, with unlimited transcripts and 10 AI credits a month.
- Team: $16.67 for 1 to 20 users, with unlimited AI credits.
- Business: $29.17 for 20 to 200 users, adding SAML SSO and advanced data retention.
So a rep who wants a summary and action items after every call needs Team, not Pro.
Where your meetings happen: a coverage map
Before you compare features, list last week's meetings and where each one took place. Then find each one on this map:
| Meeting situation | Tactiq | What covers it |
|---|---|---|
| Google Meet, Zoom or Teams in Chrome | Yes, through the extension, no bot | Tactiq, or Fireflies' Chrome extension; bot-based tools also work |
| Zoom or Teams desktop app on a Mac | Yes, through the Mac app (beta) | Granola (device audio), or a bot-based tool such as Fireflies or Otter |
| Zoom or Teams desktop app on Windows | Not yet ("exploring a Windows version") | A bot that joins the call: Fireflies, Otter, or Fathom |
| In-person customer visit | Record elsewhere, then upload | ParrotNotes on the phone in your pocket; Otter, Fireflies and Granola apps |
| Meeting that switches languages | One selected language at a time | ParrotNotes Pro: multilingual transcription with code-switching and translation |
| AI summary after the monthly cap | Pauses on Free and Pro until reset | ParrotNotes: an AI summary on every recording, on every plan |

If most of your rows sit in the first two lines, you may only need a Tactiq upgrade. If they sit lower down, you need a different kind of tool.

1. ParrotNotes: for the meetings with no browser tab
ParrotNotes covers the meetings Tactiq can't hear: the plant tour, the dealer counter, the lunch with a buyer. There's no bot and no meeting link. Open the app on the phone you already carry, tap record, and set it on the table, with everyone's OK.
When you stop, you get a transcript, a summary, action items, and a drafted follow-up email. The AI summary runs on every recording on every plan. Sales frameworks (BANT, MEDDIC, and SPIN) work on Free's 5 AI-powered recordings a month and on every recording on Pro. Recording works offline, and the notes arrive once you're back online.
- Free: 100 minutes a month, with an AI summary on every recording.
- Pro: US$19.99 a month, or US$14.99 a month billed annually, with 3,000 minutes a month, recordings up to 3 hours, all AI features on every recording, speaker identification, AI semantic search across notes, 99+ languages with code-switching and translation, and MCP connectors for Claude and ChatGPT.
Best for: reps and managers whose most important meetings happen in person, or in more than one language.
2. Fireflies.ai: the closest swap for video calls
Fireflies sends a bot to your calls by default, but its pricing page also lists "Record using Chrome extension without Fireflies bot," which is the nearest thing to Tactiq's approach. Its mobile app records in person on iPhone and Android.

Best for: video-first teams that want a Tactiq-style extension plus a bot for Windows desktop calls.
3. Otter.ai: a familiar notetaker for calls
Otter's AI Meeting Agent joins Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet, and its iPhone and Android apps record in person.
Prices (checked October 4, 2026): on Otter pricing, Basic is free with 300 monthly transcription minutes. Pro is $8.33 a user a month billed annually ($16.99 monthly), and Business is $19.99 annually ($30 monthly). Our Otter.ai alternatives guide covers where it falls short.
Best for: people who don't mind a bot and want one tool for calls and the occasional in-person meeting.
4. Fathom: a free plan with sales features on Business

Premium is $16 a month billed annually ($20 monthly), Team $15 ($19) for two or more users, and Business $25 ($34), which adds CRM field sync, deal view, coaching metrics, and AI scorecards. See our Fathom alternatives post for more.
Best for: video-heavy sales teams on iPhone that want coaching tools.
5. Granola: bot-free notes on the desktop
Granola is the other well-known bot-free tool. It captures your device's audio instead of joining the call, on desktop, iPhone, and Android.
Prices (checked October 4, 2026): on Granola pricing, Basic is free with a 30-day meeting history, Business is $14 per user a month, and Enterprise $35. Our Granola alternatives guide compares it in more depth.

How to choose a Tactiq alternative
Start from your coverage map, not from a feature list.
"Most of my selling is face to face." Start with ParrotNotes. You record on the phone you already carry, and the summary and follow-up draft are ready before you reach the car. Pair it with our follow-up email after a sales call templates. If you're on an iPhone, our guide on how to record a meeting on iPhone covers consent and mic placement.
"I'm on Windows, and my calls run in the desktop app." A bot-based tool is the practical answer today. Try Fireflies or Otter on the same week of calls and compare the summaries.
"I want to keep it bot-free." Granola on the desktop and ParrotNotes in the room both capture audio without a bot. Many people end up using one for calls and one for visits.
"My meetings switch languages." A rep who talks with a distributor in Spanish and writes the report in English needs a tool that follows the switch. ParrotNotes Pro transcribes mixed-language conversations and translates across 99+ languages.
Picture Tomás, who manages four reps selling irrigation parts across Texas and northern Mexico (a composite). His team used Tactiq on Pro for Meet calls with dealers. Two problems kept coming up: AI summaries stopped after ten credits each month, and half the dealer meetings mixed English and Spanish.
He ran a two-week trial with two reps on a phone app. They recorded 17 of 19 in-person visits, and the summaries came out in English even when the meeting didn't. He kept Tactiq for one inside rep who lives on Meet, and moved the field reps to the phone.
Priya, from the start of this guide, made the same split. She still uses an extension for video calls, and her plant-floor meetings now end with notes too.

Choosing your Tactiq alternative
Tactiq is a good tool for meetings in a browser tab. Count how many of your meetings happen there. If it's most of them, an upgrade to Tactiq Team may be all you need.
If your best conversations happen across a table, on a dock, or in two languages, you need something that hears those meetings too.
Download ParrotNotes free, record your next customer meeting with their OK, and read the summary before you start the car. Still comparing? Our Otter.ai alternatives guide covers the biggest name on this list in more depth.
