Recognition is done by your browser's speech service: Chrome and Edge send the audio to Google's or Microsoft's servers, Safari uses Apple's. ParrotNotes never receives the audio or the text. The text stays on this page until you copy or download it, and a reload starts empty.
How it works

Allow the microphone
Pick your language, press Start and allow the microphone when your browser asks. The permission is for this site only and you can revoke it in the address bar.

Speak
Talk at a normal pace. Your words appear as you go, the current phrase in lighter text until the browser settles on it. Say "new line" or "new paragraph" for a break.

Copy or download
Press Stop, fix anything in the text box, then copy the text or download it as a .txt file. Clear starts a fresh note.

Editable text
The dictated text sits in an ordinary text box: type into it, fix a word, delete a line, dictate some more.
Voice commands for breaks
Say "new line" or "new paragraph" and the tool inserts the break instead of the words. Each paragraph starts with a capital.

Copy and .txt download
One button copies the text to the clipboard; another saves it as a dated .txt file. Word and character counts update as you speak.

Dictation uses the speech recognition built into your browser, so support depends on the browser, not on ParrotNotes.

Tips for cleaner dictation
Short sentences
Pause at the end of each sentence. The browser finalises text at pauses, so short sentences come out cleaner and are easier to fix.
Say the punctuation
In Chrome and Edge, saying "comma", "full stop" or "question mark" inserts the mark in most languages; Safari supports fewer of these. Say "new line" or "new paragraph" for breaks on every browser.
A quiet room
Background talk, music and keyboard noise all end up in the text. Close the door or wait for the quiet moment.
A headset or the phone's mic
A headset or earbuds with a microphone keeps your voice at a steady distance. On a laptop, sit close and face the screen.
