Priya and Marcus searched for "Krisp AI note taker" on the same Tuesday. Priya runs implementation for a payroll software company: six Zoom and Teams calls a day from a home office next to a construction site, which is why she found Krisp's noise cancellation first. Marcus sells commercial flooring. His day is showrooms, job sites, and a truck cab, and the one video call he takes each week happens on his phone in a parking lot. (Both are composites, not real people.)
The same review can't give both of them a yes.
This Krisp AI note taker review is built so you can decide whether Krisp fits the way you meet. It's based on Krisp's pricing page, product pages, release notes and App Store listing as they read on October 12, 2026, not on a hands-on test, and every claim links to its source. You'll get the three ways Krisp captures a meeting, what it does well, where its own pages draw lines, pricing, privacy, a 10-question fit test and the alternatives worth a look.
One disclosure first: ParrotNotes publishes this blog, and ParrotNotes is our app. It appears in the alternatives section, for readers like Marcus whose meetings happen across a table. If that's you, try ParrotNotes free and come back for the Krisp facts.
Krisp AI note taker review in short
Krisp suits you if most of your meetings are calls on a Windows or Mac computer, you want notes without a visible bot in the participant list, and you'd value noise cancellation and accent conversion on the same call. For that reader it's one of the more complete tools on the market, and the Core plan is priced below most rivals.
Look elsewhere if your meetings happen in a room more often than on a screen, your conversations switch between languages, or you need a permanent free plan rather than a 7-day trial.
What is Krisp's AI note taker?
Krisp started as a noise-cancelling layer that sits between your microphone and your meeting app. The AI note taker grew out of that position. Krisp's AI meeting assistant page says it "works directly at the audio level on your device", so it hears both sides of a call without joining as a participant: in Krisp's words, "you don't need a bot in your meeting".
Around that core, Krisp now offers:
- Live transcripts with speaker identification and timestamps, which you can search later.
- AI notes: summaries in short or long formats, action items, key decisions and next steps.
- Recordings in audio or video, or a Transcript Only mode that keeps no audio at all.
- AI chat to ask questions about a meeting "without replaying recordings" (AI note taker page).
- Noise cancellation and accent conversion, which the note taker shares with the rest of the Krisp app.
- Integrations with HubSpot, Slack, Notion, Zapier, Teams and an API on Core, with Salesforce and ConnectWise on Advanced, plus an MCP integration for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor (pricing page).
How Krisp captures a meeting: three modes
Most Krisp reviews say "bot-free" and move on. The detail matters, because Krisp's own pages describe three different ways to capture a conversation, and they affect what the other people in the meeting see and what you get back.
| Device audio (default) | Optional bot | In person | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where it works | Any call on your Windows or Mac computer, after you select Krisp Microphone and Krisp Speaker in Zoom, Teams, Meet or another app | Zoom and similar platforms, by pasting a meeting link | The Record In-person button in the desktop app, or the mobile app on iOS and Android |
| What others see | Nothing joins the call | Krisp appears as a participant | Nothing; a phone or laptop on the table |
| Needs the desktop app | Yes | No (the phone can send the bot) | No for mobile, yes for the desktop button |
| Noise cancellation | Yes | No (the bot records the meeting audio) | Desktop yes; mobile see below |
Sources: Krisp's AI meeting assistant page, its mobile app launch note (March 19, 2025) and its May 2025 product update. Read on 2026-10-12.
One wrinkle: the pricing page's comparison table ticks "Record with bot" on every plan while the Core card says "Bot-free". Both are true: bot-free is the default and the bot is an option.
What Krisp does well
Here's where Krisp earns its users, from its own documentation.
- No bot, no join notification, on any desktop call. Because Krisp sits at the audio level, it works with "any conferencing app" once you choose its virtual microphone and speaker. Priya's payroll clients never see "Krisp has joined" in the chat.
- Noise cancellation on the same call as the notes. No other note taker we've reviewed cancels the jackhammer outside Priya's window while it transcribes. The pricing page says noise cancellation is in every plan.
- Accent conversion. Core includes 1 hour a day, Advanced 4 hours a day on the speaker side. It's a call-centre feature, but customer-facing teams with international colleagues will notice it.
- A clear price for teams. Core is $8 per user a month billed annually with "Unlimited AI Note-taker". Read AI Pro is $15 a month annually and Otter's business plans sit higher, as our Read AI review and Otter.ai review show.
- Security paperwork. The AI note taker page lists GDPR, SOC 2 Type II and PCI-DSS 4.0. Enterprise adds on-device "Private Transcription & Recordings", a BAA for teams with 100 or more seats, and a choice of data centre location.
If your week looks like Priya's, start the trial. Krisp is a strong candidate.
Where Krisp's own pages draw lines
These are the edges Krisp describes itself, quoted so you can check them.
16 languages, and three different counts
The pricing page lists 16 transcription languages: English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Hindi, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Czech, Ukrainian and Korean. The AI meeting assistant page says "17 languages" and explains that English runs on your device while the other languages are processed on Krisp's servers. A May 2024 beta announcement promised 95 languages in a Record-mode beta, and the note taker page mentions "60+ languages" in one line without context. Go by the 16 on the pricing page until Krisp updates it, and expect a single language per meeting. None of the pages describes switching languages mid-conversation.
Noise cancellation on the phone is in flux
Krisp's mobile app page, updated May 2025, says the mobile app "does not support noise cancellation due to current platform limitations". The App Store release notes say noise cancellation for in-person meetings arrived in version 1.5.0 on September 13, 2025, and for outgoing calls in 1.20.0. If a quiet phone recording matters to you, test it in the app rather than trusting either page.
A calendar connection by default
The pricing page FAQ says signup requires a Google or Outlook calendar connection by default, and that teams can connect "with zero calendar permissions" by contacting sales. If you don't want a note taker reading your calendar, know that before you start.
A 7-day trial, not a free plan
On October 12, 2026, the $0 column on Krisp's pricing page is a "Free Trial", "Free for 7 days", with unlimited transcription, recording and AI notes during the week. Several reviews still describe a permanent free tier with 60 minutes of noise cancellation a day; one review warns its own prices were unchecked. The App Store listing also notes that bot recording stops when the free trial ends. If a free plan is your requirement, our roundup of free AI note takers compares plans that stay free.
Built for the desk
The core capture mode needs the desktop app and a call running through your computer's audio. Marcus runs into this on an ordinary Thursday: a showroom walk-through, two job-site measurements and a drive. Krisp's mobile app can record those conversations, but the features that make Krisp distinctive are desktop features, and the 16 languages don't cover the Portuguese his installer crew switches into.

Source: krisp.ai/pricing, read on 2026-10-12. The page shows the annual price under a "Save 50%" toggle. Every paid team member counts as one seat. Volume discounts start above 50 members.
Is Krisp safe? Privacy and consent
Krisp's pages make three concrete claims. The AI meeting assistant page says "No voice data visible to Krisp servers" for its on-device processing, and that "no audio is sent to third parties". The note taker page lists encryption in transit and at rest, SOC 2 Type II, GDPR and PCI-DSS 4.0, with HIPAA on Enterprise. And the same page explains that English transcription runs on-device while the other 15 languages are processed on Krisp's servers, which is the honest detail many reviews skip: the privacy picture is stronger for English meetings than for the rest.
Consent is yours to handle. Because the default mode shows nothing in the call, nobody on the other side is told a recording is being made unless you tell them. That's true of any device-level recorder, ParrotNotes included. Ask before you record anyone. Recording laws differ by state and country; our overview of one-party consent states covers the US basics. This isn't legal advice.
What Krisp reviews say vs what Krisp's pages say
We checked the claims in the reviews ranking for "Krisp AI note taker" against Krisp's own pages. Many were probably accurate when written; the point is to check the date.
| Some reviews say | Krisp's own pages say (2026-10-12) | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Krisp has a free tier with 60 minutes of noise cancellation a day | The $0 column is a 7-day free trial | Pricing |
| Core includes 5 GB of storage | 10 GB on Core, 60 GB on Advanced | Pricing |
| Krisp transcribes 95 languages | 16 listed on the pricing page; 95 was a 2024 beta | Pricing, beta note |
| Krisp is for online calls only | In-person recording in the desktop app (May 2025) and the mobile app (March 2025) | May 2025 update, mobile launch |
| Krisp never uses a bot | Bot-free by default, with an optional bot mode | AI meeting assistant |
The Krisp fit test: 10 questions
Answer each one for last week. The Krisp page that decides it is in brackets. Five minutes.
Part A: does the core product fit?
- Did most of last week's meetings happen on a Windows or Mac computer? (AI meeting assistant page: the default mode needs the desktop app.)
- Do you take calls somewhere noisy, or with colleagues whose accents your clients struggle with? (Pricing: noise cancellation and accent conversion.)
- Do you want notes without a bot in the participant list? (AI meeting assistant page.)
Part B: do the lines cut across your week?
- Did a third or more of your conversations happen in a room, a vehicle or on a site? (Mobile app page: in-person works, but the desktop features don't.)
- Did any meeting switch languages, or happen in a language outside Krisp's 16? (Pricing page language list.)
- Do you need a plan that stays free after a week? (Pricing: 7-day trial.)
- Would connecting your Google or Outlook calendar be a problem? (Pricing FAQ.)
Part C: which plan, if it fits?
- Do you need Salesforce or ConnectWise, or a manager's view of the team's calls? (Pricing: Advanced.)
- Do you need more than 1 hour a day of accent conversion? (Pricing: Advanced.)
- Do you need SSO, HIPAA, a BAA or on-device transcription for the whole team? (Pricing: Enterprise.)
How to read it. Three yeses in Part A and none in Part B: Krisp suits you, and Part C picks the plan (a yes on 10 is Enterprise; on 8 or 9, Advanced; otherwise Core). One yes in Part B: run the 7-day trial on exactly that situation before paying. Two or more in Part B: Krisp is built around a different week from yours.
Priya scores three in Part A, none in Part B, and no on everything in Part C: Krisp Core. Marcus scores one in Part A and two in Part B.
Krisp alternatives
If your test came out like Marcus's, or Krisp fits but you want a second option, these are the tools we've reviewed with the same method. Prices and limits are in the linked reviews, each checked on its own date.
- Otter.ai. The best-known name, built around an assistant that joins Zoom, Teams and Meet calls. Our Otter.ai review covers where it stops.
- Read AI. An agent for video calls plus a free search across meetings, email and chat: see the Read AI review.
- Granola. A Mac-first note taker that listens to your computer's audio without a bot: see the Granola AI review.
- Fireflies.ai. A bot-based assistant with deep CRM integrations. If the bot is the problem, start with our Fireflies alternatives that don't join your call.
- PLAUD Note. A card-sized hardware recorder for the room, at the price of carrying another device: see the PLAUD Note review.
- jamie. Another bot-free desktop note taker, covered in our Jamie AI note taker review.
- ParrotNotes. The app we build, for the reader whose meetings happen in a room. Details below.
If your meetings happen in a room: ParrotNotes
ParrotNotes is built around the phone in your pocket, with apps for iOS, Android and macOS. There's no bot and no calendar to connect. Tap record, set the phone on the table with everyone's OK, and when you stop you get the transcript, an AI summary, action items and a drafted follow-up email. It doesn't capture Zoom, Teams or Meet audio from your computer, so for Priya's week it isn't the tool. For Marcus's, it is.

ParrotNotes Free costs $0 and gives you 100 minutes of recording a month (up to 30 minutes per recording), an AI summary on every recording, 5 AI-powered recordings a month with action items and the BANT, MEDDIC and SPIN frameworks, and unlimited written notes. Pro is $19.99 a month, or $14.99 a month billed annually, with 3,000 minutes a month, up to 3 hours per recording, every AI feature, multilingual transcription with translation, speaker identification and AI search across your notes.
Marcus's Thursday on it: the showroom walk-through recorded on the phone he sets on the counter, the Portuguese-and-English job-site conversation coming back as one English transcript with the installer's measurements in it, and a MEDDIC summary of the biggest quote waiting before he reaches the next site. For the wider field, see our guide to the best AI note taker for in-person meetings.

The verdict of this Krisp AI note taker review
Krisp's AI note taker is a capable, well-priced assistant for people who meet on a computer: device-level capture with no bot by default, noise cancellation on the same call, speaker-labelled transcripts, AI notes and chat, and an $8-a-month Core plan. Its own pages are just as clear about the lines: 16 languages, one per meeting, a calendar connection by default, a 7-day trial rather than a free plan, and a desktop-first design that makes in-person recording a secondary mode.
Run the 10-question test before you install anything. Three yeses in Part A and none in Part B, and Krisp suits you. Two or more in Part B, and your week happens in the room, not on the call.
If it's the room, download ParrotNotes free. You get 100 minutes a month with an AI summary on every recording, on the phone you already carry, in the languages your meetings actually happen in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Krisp's AI note taker really bot-free?
Yes, by default. Krisp's AI meeting assistant page says it "works directly at the audio level on your device", so nothing joins the call once you select Krisp Microphone and Krisp Speaker in your meeting app. A bot mode is optional, for example by pasting a Zoom link.

On krisp.ai/pricing on October 12, 2026: Core is $16 per user a month, or $8 a month billed annually; Advanced is $30, or $15 billed annually; Enterprise is custom. The $0 option is a 7-day free trial with no credit card. Every paid team member counts as one seat.
Does Krisp have a free plan?
Not on October 12, 2026. The pricing page's $0 column is a "Free Trial" that lasts 7 days with unlimited transcription, recording and AI notes during that week. Older reviews describe a permanent free tier with 60 minutes a day of noise cancellation; check the pricing page on the day you sign up.
What languages does Krisp transcribe?
Krisp's pricing page lists 16: English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Hindi, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Czech, Ukrainian and Korean. English is processed on your device and the rest on Krisp's servers. No Krisp page describes meetings that switch languages; for those, ParrotNotes Pro covers 99+ languages with translation.
Can Krisp record in-person meetings?
Yes. The desktop app added a Record In-person button in May 2025 with Transcript, Audio or Screen Recording modes, and the mobile app for iOS and Android, launched March 2025, records in-person meetings and voice notes and uploads audio files. Krisp's mobile page says the phone app lacks noise cancellation, while the App Store release notes say it arrived in version 1.5.0, so test it yourself.
