Weekly Report Template

Pick a sales rep, sales manager or employee report, then fill in this week's wins, the key numbers against target, what you worked on, next week's priorities and where you need help. The report lays itself out as you type; print it, save it as a PDF or copy it into an email to your manager.

What goes in a weekly report

  • Week of, name and who it is for

The Monday of the week, your name or your team, and who reads it. The template starts on this week's Monday; change it for a report you are catching up on.

  • Wins and highlights

Two to five things that went well: a deal closed, a meeting booked, a problem solved. Lead with the one your manager will care about most.

  • Key numbers against target

The few numbers you are measured on, each with a target and the actual. The template works out the percentage of target, and leaves out any metric without a number.

  • What you worked on

Short lines on where the week went. Last week's priorities move here when you start the next report, so you can see what got done.

  • Next week's priorities

Three to five things, in order. A numbered list says what comes first when the week gets busy.

  • Blockers and help needed

What is stuck and what you need, from whom. This is the line a manager can act on, so be specific.

How to write a weekly report in ten minutes

Choose the report type. The sales rep report starts with visits, calls, meetings booked, proposals, deals closed and new pipeline; the manager report with team bookings, pipeline, deals, the quarter's forecast and coaching; the employee report with tasks, deadlines and requests. Rename, add or remove metrics to match what you are measured on. The names follow the report type until you type a number.

Fill it in at the same time each week, before your notes go cold. Start with the numbers, then the wins, then next week's priorities, and finish with blockers. Keep each line to one sentence: the reader should get the week in under a minute.

When you are done, Copy as email gives a plain version with a subject line, ready to paste into a message; Print saves a one-page PDF. Next week, press "Start next week's report": your name, the report type and the metric names and targets stay, and this week's priorities become the starting lines of "worked on".

Reporting on a project with milestones, risks and a red, amber or green status? Use the project status report template instead.

Need a record of each call behind the numbers? Keep a call log through the week.

Weekly report, status report, daily report, call report

Weekly report
One person's or one team's week: wins, numbers against target, priorities and blockers. This template.
Project status report
One project's health for a sponsor: a red, amber or green status, milestones, risks and decisions. Often weekly too, but about the project, not the person.
Daily report
One day on one job or site, common in construction and field service: work done, crew, materials, weather and issues.
Sales call report
One customer visit or call: who was there, what was discussed, the next step. The weekly report sums these up.

Tips for a weekly report your manager reads

  • Numbers first, adjectives never

"18 visits against a target of 20" says more than "a busy week". If a number is off, add one line on why in the wins or blockers.

  • Same day, same format

Send it on the same day each week, in the same shape, so your manager can compare weeks at a glance.

  • Ask for one thing

A blocker without an ask is a complaint. Say what would unblock it and who can do it: "Need pricing approval from Sam by Thursday".

  • Write from your notes, not your memory

By Friday, Monday is a blur. Notes taken after each call or visit make the wins and numbers quick to fill in and hard to argue with.

For reps and managers working on the week behind the report: the sales manager weekly report, the sales call report template, field sales management, sales pipeline management, the one-on-one meeting template.

Your weekly report is already in this week's calls and meetings.

The wins, the numbers and the blockers came up on customer calls, visits and the team meeting. Record them in ParrotNotes and each one becomes a note with a summary and action items, so the weekly report is mostly copying from what was said. Free for 100 minutes of recording a month.
