Jamie AI Alternatives: Bot-Free Note Takers Compared

Priya runs key accounts for a packaging supplier in Columbus. On a Tuesday in October she had four plant visits, two quick check-ins with a site supervisor in a parking lot, and a 15-minute catch-up with a buyer at a trade counter. By lunch she had used seven meetings' worth of note credits, and three of those meetings were under ten minutes. (Priya is a composite, not a real person.)

That's a common reason people start looking for a Jamie AI alternative. Jamie gets a lot right: no bot joins your call, it records in person, and it handles 99+ languages. But it counts meetings, not minutes, and its editing tools live on the desktop. If your day is a string of short conversations away from a laptop, a different bot-free note taker may fit better.

This guide compares seven Jamie AI alternatives. Every price, plan, platform, and language count below was checked on the vendor's own site on October 15, 2026, with the page linked. You'll also get a swap sheet that shows where each Jamie feature lives in the other tools.

A disclosure: ParrotNotes publishes this blog and appears first because it's built for days like Priya's. The tables give the same facts for every tool, so you can weigh them yourself. If your meetings already happen in a room, try ParrotNotes free while you read.

Why people look for a Jamie AI alternative

Jamie's own pages explain most of the switching. Its help center says "For every meeting recorded with Jamie, one credit is charged, regardless of the duration of the meeting", and "Once you go over the meeting credit limit or exceed the duration limit, your summary will be locked" (Subscriptions & Plans). The pricing page, checked October 15, 2026, lists prices in euros: Free with 10 AI notes a month and a 30-minute meeting limit, Plus at €21 with 20 notes and a 2-hour limit, and Pro at €39 a month billed yearly with unlimited notes.

On the phone, Jamie's mobile app guide lists iOS and Android apps that record in-person meetings, and adds that "Editing features are not yet available on mobile."

Our Jamie AI note taker review covers the rest: how the credit model works, worked cost examples, security, and where your audio goes. None of that is repeated here.

Three kinds of bot-free

"No bot" can mean three different things, and the difference decides whether an alternative replaces Jamie for you.

  1. Device audio on your computer. The app listens to your laptop's microphone and speakers during a Zoom or Teams call, so nothing joins the participant list. This is how Jamie, Granola, and Krisp handle video calls, and what Fathom is testing as a Mac beta.
  2. The phone in the room. You set your phone on the table and press record. There's no call to join, so there's never a bot. This is ParrotNotes' home ground, and every tool on this list has a phone app of some kind.
  3. A bot you can switch off. Some tools offer both. Krisp "also offers a Bot option for platforms like Zoom", and Fathom offers a "Choice of bot-free (in beta) or bot capture."

If you liked Jamie because clients never saw a bot, any of the three works. If you liked it because it captured in-person meetings, look hard at the second kind. For a deeper look at how bot-free capture works, see our guide to AI meeting notes without a bot.

The Jamie swap sheet

Most people don't leave Jamie because of everything. They leave because of one thing and want to keep the rest. The swap sheet takes five things Jamie users rely on, or wish they had, and shows where to find each one.

The seven Jamie AI alternatives, one by one

1. ParrotNotes: bot-free on the phone you carry

ParrotNotes is the Jamie AI alternative for people whose meetings happen across a table, in a car, or on a plant floor. There's no bot and no calendar to connect. Open the app, tap record, and set the phone down; recording carries on with the screen locked. When you stop, you get a transcript, an AI summary, action items, and a drafted follow-up email, and you can ask the AI questions about that recording.

Here's what parrotnotes.app/pricing showed on October 15, 2026:

  • Free ($0): 100 minutes of recording a month, an AI summary on every recording, 5 AI-powered recordings a month (insights, action items, chat, and the BANT, MEDDIC, and SPIN sales frameworks), and unlimited written notes.
  • Pro ($19.99 a month, or $14.99 a month billed annually): 3,000 minutes a month, recordings up to 3 hours, every AI feature on unlimited recordings, speaker identification, multilingual transcription with translation in 99+ languages, AI search across your notes, MCP connectors, docx and PDF export, and no ads.
  • Apps: iOS, Android, and macOS.

The difference from Jamie is the meter. ParrotNotes counts minutes, so a 6-minute debrief uses 6 minutes, not a whole meeting. Priya's seven morning conversations add up to well under two hours. The 99+ languages match Jamie's count, and Pro adds translation, so a meeting in Spanish can come back as an English transcript. Recording works offline; the transcript and summary arrive once you're connected.

Best for: field reps, account managers, consultants, and anyone with many short in-person conversations a week.

2. Granola: a bot-free notepad for the laptop

Granola is the closest match to Jamie on a computer. Its pricing page lists "Bot-free, device-audio capture" and "Desktop, iOS, Android & Apple Watch apps" on every plan. Basic is $0 with limited meeting history (30 days in the comparison table), Business is $14 per user a month, and Enterprise is $35. Every plan lists "Audio deleted after transcription".

On the phone, Granola's mobile guide says the app is "designed for in-person meetings" and that "Granola Chat is currently available on iPhone only". Its language page lists 31 languages on desktop and 17 on mobile, where it will "choose a single language to transcribe in". Our Granola AI review goes deeper.

Best for: a laptop-first week of video calls in one language.

3. Fathom: a free plan with bot-free capture in beta

Fathom's pricing page offers a Free plan, "Free forever", with a "Choice of bot-free (in beta) or bot capture", footnoted "Beta feature for Mac". Premium is $20 a month, or $16 billed annually. Fathom's devices article says it records "on Mac and Windows computers" and that you can "use the Fathom iOS mobile app to record in-person conversations." Android isn't mentioned.

Best for: a Mac user on video calls who wants to try bot-free capture.

4. Krisp: bot-free calls with a mobile app

Its meeting assistant page lists "desktop apps available for Windows and macOS" and "Mobile apps available for iOS and Android", with "the mobile app for in-person discussions". The pricing page shows no permanent free plan, only a trial that is "Free for 7 days". Core is $16 per user a month, or $8 billed annually, and lists "Bot-free" and "In-person meeting notes". Transcripts and summaries cover "16+ langs". Our Krisp AI note taker review covers it in full.

Best for: people who already use Krisp's noise cancellation on calls and want notes in the same app.

5. Notta: 58 languages and translation

Notta is the language-focused pick after ParrotNotes. Its multilingual page says it is "compatible with 58 languages", with translation "for over 40 languages" and the option to "Transcribe two languages at once".

On the pricing page, Free gives 120 transcription minutes a month, "Up to 3 minutes per conversation", and 10 AI summaries. Pro is $8.17 a month billed annually ($97.99 a year), with 1,800 minutes, up to 5 hours per recording, and transcript translation. With a three-minute cap on Free, a real meeting needs Pro.

Best for: long recordings across many languages, with AI notes second.

6. Otter.ai: minutes instead of meetings, with an agent

Otter isn't bot-free on calls: its pricing page says it "Joins Zoom, MS Teams, and Google Meet to automatically write and share notes." It does count minutes. Basic gives 300 a month with a 30-minute cap per conversation. Pro's standard price is $16.99 per user a month, or $8.33 billed annually, for 1,200 minutes and up to 90 minutes per meeting (lower prices on the page carry the footnote "Offer valid only with an India-issued credit card"). Transcription covers "English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Chinese", and there are iOS and Android apps. Our Otter.ai review has the detail.

Best for: an English-language, video-call-heavy week where an agent in the call is fine.

7. Read AI: meeting reports from an agent

Read AI is the other agent-based option. Its pricing page says "Add Read Assistant to any Zoom, Teams, or Meet meeting." The free plan covers "5 meeting transcripts per month" with a 1-hour maximum. Pro is $15 a month billed annually or $19.75 monthly, and the page lists "20+ languages supported" plus Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS apps. See our Read AI review for how its reports work.

Best for: teams that want meeting analytics on video calls and don't mind an assistant in the room.

Which Jamie AI alternative fits your week

Three composite weeks show how to read the tables. None of them are customers.

Priya, from the opening. Around 40 in-person conversations a month on an iPhone, most under 15 minutes, plus a few long plant reviews. The minutes row of the swap sheet leaves ParrotNotes, Otter, and Notta. The in-person row keeps all three. Her test is the plant floor: a 50-minute walk-through with three people talking, then a follow-up email written from the summary. Speaker identification on ParrotNotes Pro tells her it was the maintenance lead, not the buyer, who asked for the second quote.

Daniel, an operations consultant in Chicago. Six video calls a day from a desk, all in English, and his clients like that no bot appears. He's happy with Jamie's laptop recorder; the credits are his only problem. Granola and Krisp are his shortlist, both bot-free on the desktop.

Rosa, a real estate agent in Miami. Showings, open houses, and buyer consultations, half of them in Spanish, on an Android phone. The language row leaves ParrotNotes and Notta; the translation row keeps both. Her test is a Spanish-language consultation she needs in English for a co-listing agent. With ParrotNotes Pro she sets the translation language once and gets an English transcript of a Spanish conversation. For more on meetings that cross languages, see our guide to bilingual meeting notes.

Before you switch

Two things to sort out before you cancel Jamie.

Keep what you need from Jamie. Open the meetings you'll want later and save the summaries and tasks somewhere you control. Do it while your plan is active, before any summary is locked.

Ask before you record. Bot-free means nobody sees a bot announce the recording, so consent is on you. Jamie's own consent guide says it is "required to inform" all participants, and the same habit applies to every tool here, ParrotNotes included. In the United States, federal law (18 U.S.C. § 2511(2)(d)) allows recording when you are "a party to the communication", but some states require every party's consent. Our overview of one-party consent states covers the basics. This isn't legal advice.

Choosing your Jamie AI alternative

Jamie is a solid bot-free note taker built around the laptop, with EU hosting and 99+ languages. If its credits cover your month and you work from a desk, keep it. If your meetings are short, frequent, multilingual, or happen away from a laptop, one row of the swap sheet has already picked your Jamie AI alternative.

The short version: ParrotNotes for in-person meetings on the phone you carry, counted in minutes, with 99+ languages and translation; Granola for a bot-free laptop notepad; Fathom for free call summaries with a Mac beta; Krisp if you already use it on calls; Notta for long multilingual recordings; Otter.ai and Read AI if an agent in the call is fine.

If your week looks like Priya's or Rosa's, download ParrotNotes free and make tomorrow's first conversation your first recording. You'll have the transcript, the summary, the action items, and a drafted follow-up before you reach your next stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best Jamie AI alternative for in-person meetings?

For meetings without a video link, pick a tool that records on the phone you already carry and needs no bot. ParrotNotes is built for that on iOS, Android, and macOS, with an AI summary on every recording on the free plan, and speaker identification plus 99+ languages with translation on Pro. Vendor facts were checked on October 15, 2026.

Is there a free Jamie AI alternative?

Yes. ParrotNotes Free gives 100 minutes of recording a month with an AI summary on every recording. Granola, Otter, Notta, Fathom and Read AI also have free plans, each with its own limits, and Krisp offers a 7-day trial. Checked October 15, 2026.

Which Jamie AI alternatives work without a bot?

ParrotNotes and Granola record without a meeting bot on every plan. Krisp is bot-free with an optional bot for Zoom, and Fathom offers bot-free capture as a beta on Mac. Otter and Read AI use an assistant that joins the call, though both also have phone apps for meetings in the room.

Does any Jamie alternative match its 99+ languages?

ParrotNotes matches it with 99+ languages and adds translation on Pro, so you can record in one language and read the transcript in another. Notta is the next widest on this list with 58 languages and translation for more than 40. Checked October 15, 2026.

Why does Jamie lock my summary?

Jamie's help center says one credit is charged per meeting, whatever its length, and that a summary is locked once you go over your monthly credit limit or your plan's meeting length. Upgrading unlocks it. A tool that counts minutes instead, such as ParrotNotes, Otter, or Notta, avoids spending a full credit on a five-minute conversation.
