Audio Visualizer

Turn a song, podcast clip or voice recording into a video with moving bars or a waveform that follows the sound. Watch the preview while it plays, then save an MP4 in square, landscape or vertical size. Free, no watermark, no sign-up; the audio is processed in your browser and is not uploaded.

How to make an audio visualizer video

Three steps, in your browser.

  1. 1

    Drop the audio

MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC and other common formats up to 100 MB and 30 minutes. Press play and the preview moves with the sound.

  2. 2

    Pick the look

Choose bars, mirrored bars, a line waveform or circular bars, a colour preset or your own colours, an optional background photo and a title. Pick the part you want, up to five minutes, and the size: square, landscape or vertical.

  3. 3

    Make the video

The page draws every frame from the sound at 30 frames a second, encodes it as H.264 with AAC sound and hands you an MP4. A progress bar shows how far it is, and you can cancel.

Need a still picture instead? The Audio Waveform Generator makes a PNG or SVG of the waveform. For a cover image or a title card over the sound, use MP3 to MP4.

Four styles

  • Frequency bars (audio spectrum visualizer)

Each bar is a slice of the spectrum, from deep bass on the left to the highest treble on the right, spaced the way we hear pitch. Kick drums move the left bars, cymbals and S sounds the right ones.

  • Mirrored bars

The same spectrum drawn up and down from a centre line. It reads well behind a title and suits square and vertical videos.

  • Line waveform

The sound wave itself, drawn as a line that shakes with the sound. Good for a voice: you see each word as it is spoken.

  • Circular bars

The spectrum around a circle. Put a logo or a photo behind it and the bars ring around the middle of the frame.

Music visualizer online: what people make with it

  • A podcast audiogram

Cut the best minute of an episode, add the episode title and post it as a square or vertical video. A moving waveform tells people there is sound to turn on.

  • A voice note on LinkedIn

Record a short story from a customer call or a thought from the road, then post it as a video so the feed shows something moving instead of a plain audio file.

  • A track for YouTube

YouTube needs a video. A landscape visualizer with the track name gives a song or a mix something to look at for the whole length.

  • Reels, Shorts and TikTok

Pick the vertical size and keep the part under a minute. Your own photo as the background keeps it recognisable.

Video sizes

Every video is 30 frames a second with 128 kbps AAC sound. Estimated size for one minute:

SizePixelsFitsAbout a minute
Square1080 × 1080Feeds: LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook15.2 MB
Landscape1920 × 1080YouTube and most players26.3 MB
Vertical1080 × 1920Reels, Shorts, TikTok, stories26.3 MB
Estimates at the encoder's target bitrate; a plain background usually comes out smaller. Videos up to 5 minutes. 1 MB = 1,048,576 bytes.

Which browsers can make the video

The preview works in any current browser. Saving the video needs two parts of the browser's WebCodecs: a video encoder that can write H.264 and an audio encoder that can write AAC. Whether a browser can encode H.264 depends on the browser and the device, so the page checks when you open it.

Where each encoder exists, per MDN's browser compatibility data. If this browser cannot save the video, the page says so above the drop zone.

Visualizer, waveform image or MP3 to MP4?

This page makes a moving video: the bars or the line react to the sound frame by frame, the way a music visualizer does. Use it when you want motion that follows the audio.

If you only need a picture of the sound, for a thumbnail, a slide or a print, the Audio Waveform Generator makes a still image. If you want a cover image or a title card with the sound under it, MP3 to MP4 does that, with a simple waveform that fills in as an option.

Long recordings: the video is limited to 5 minutes because the page draws and encodes every frame on your device and keeps the finished video in memory until you save it. Pick the best part of a longer file.

Find the clip worth posting

The minute worth turning into a video usually sits inside a longer interview, meeting or call. ParrotNotes records the conversation on your phone and gives you the transcript and a summary, so the quote is easy to find. Free for 100 minutes of recording a month.
