Which Notta Alternative Fits Your Languages? 5 Tools Checked

Lucía sells packaging to food producers in Texas and northern Mexico. Half her client meetings start in English and drift into Spanish by the second coffee. She signed up for Notta because it handles both languages, then found that turning those mixed conversations into a transcript she could read in one language meant adding a translation package on top of her plan. (Lucía is a composite, but the pricing below is real.)

If that's why you're here, you're looking for a Notta alternative that treats languages as part of the job rather than an extra. Notta is a capable tool: it transcribes 58 languages, records on your phone or your desktop, and its paid plans are cheap. But its free plan is tight, AI summaries are counted, and translation is sold separately.

Below: why people leave Notta, a map of what each alternative does with languages, what Notta costs once you add translation, and five alternatives with prices from each vendor's own page, checked on October 7, 2026.

Want to try a multilingual meeting first? Download ParrotNotes free and record your next conversation on the phone you already carry.

Why people look for a Notta alternative

Four reasons come up again and again.

The free plan stops after three minutes. Notta's pricing page lists 120 transcription minutes a month on Free, but each conversation is capped at 3 minutes. That's enough to test the accuracy, not enough to capture a real meeting.

AI summaries are rationed. Free includes 10 AI summaries a month, Pro 100, and Business 200. If you record several meetings a day, you'll feel the count.

Translation costs extra. Notta transcribes 58 languages, according to its website. But on the pricing page, Monolingual Translation is a $6 a month add-on ($72 a year) and Bilingual Transcription & Translation is $9 a month ($108 a year), on top of Pro or Business.

Some meetings never touch a laptop. Notta offers a bot that joins your call and a bot-free desktop recorder. If your conversations happen in a client's office, on a job site, or over lunch, you want the whole workflow to start on your phone.

The language map: Notta and 5 alternatives

Most "alternatives" lists stop at a feature grid. For anyone who works in more than one language, the real question is narrower: how many languages does the tool transcribe, and can it hand you the transcript in the language you read?

ToolTranscription languagesTurn a conversation into a transcript in another language

Notta58Paid add-on: $6/month (monolingual) or $9/month (bilingual), billed annually

Sources: Notta pricing and Notta languages, Otter supported languages, Fireflies pricing, Fathom languages, Granola multi-language help, and ParrotNotes pricing, all checked October 7, 2026.

Two things stand out. Only two tools on the list turn a whole conversation into a transcript in another language, and only ParrotNotes includes that in its main paid plan. And mobile language support often trails desktop: Granola, for one, covers 31 languages on a laptop but 17 on a phone.

What Notta costs once you add translation

Here's the worked example for someone like Lucía, who needs mixed-language meetings transcribed and translated, billed annually:

  • Notta Pro: $97.99 a year for 1,800 minutes a month and 100 AI summaries
  • Plus Bilingual Transcription & Translation: $108 a year
  • Total: $205.99 a year

ParrotNotes Pro costs $179.88 a year ($14.99 a month billed annually) for 3,000 minutes a month, all AI features, and 99+ languages with translation already included. That's $26.11 less, with 1,200 more minutes a month and an AI summary on every recording.

Prices checked October 7, 2026, on Notta's pricing page and ParrotNotes pricing. Notta's page shows a "40% OFF" annual discount; monthly-billed prices are higher.

5 Notta alternatives worth a look

1. ParrotNotes: multilingual notes from the phone in your pocket

ParrotNotes is built for conversations that happen in person, often in more than one language: client visits, interviews, site walks, and team meetings. Open the app, tap record (with everyone's OK), and put the phone on the table. There's no bot to invite and no laptop to open.

When you stop, you get a transcript, an AI summary, action items, and a drafted follow-up email. Pro handles 99+ languages, copes with speakers who switch languages mid-sentence, and can give you the transcript in a different language from the one spoken. Our guide to translating audio to English walks through that setup, and our guide on how to transcribe a foreign-language interview covers the interview case. Recording works offline, so a basement office or a rural site is fine; the notes arrive once you reconnect.

  • Free: 100 minutes of recording a month, an AI summary on every recording, and 5 AI-powered recordings a month.
  • Pro: $19.99 a month, or $14.99 a month billed annually, with 3,000 minutes a month, recordings up to 3 hours, all AI features, speaker identification, 99+ languages with translation, and MCP connectors.

Got a file already? The free Audio to Text converter turns a short audio or video file into a transcript and summary.

Best for: people who meet face to face, and anyone who works across languages.

2. Otter.ai: the familiar choice for English video calls

Otter joins Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet, records in person through its mobile apps, and imports files.

Prices (checked October 7, 2026): on Otter's pricing page, Basic is free with 300 minutes a month and 3 lifetime file imports. Pro is $8.33 a user a month billed annually ($16.99 monthly) with 1,200 minutes, and Business is $19.99 billed annually ($30 monthly). Otter transcribes six languages. Our Otter.ai pricing guide breaks down every plan, and our Otter.ai alternatives post covers where it falls short.

Best for: teams whose meetings are online and in one of Otter's six languages.

3. Fireflies.ai: a meeting bot with lots of integrations

Fireflies sends a bot into your video calls, then pushes notes into CRMs and project tools.

Prices (checked October 7, 2026): on Fireflies pricing, Free is $0. Pro is $10 a seat a month billed annually ($18 monthly), Business $19 ($29 monthly), and Enterprise $39 a seat, billed annually only. Its pricing FAQ calls English the primary language, with others in beta. Our Fireflies alternatives guide explains the bot trade-off.

Best for: English-speaking teams that live on video calls and want notes pushed into other apps.

4. Fathom: video call notes with summary translation

Fathom records your calls and writes summaries quickly, with a generous free plan.

Prices (checked October 7, 2026): on Fathom's pricing page, Free is $0. Premium is $16 a month billed annually ($20 monthly), Team $15 a user ($19) for two or more users, and Business $25 ($34). Fathom transcribes 38 languages and translates summaries between seven of them on paid plans. See our Fathom alternatives post for more.

Best for: people whose meetings run on Zoom, Meet, or Teams.

5. Granola: an AI notepad for desktop meetings

Granola listens through your computer's audio, with no bot in the call, and blends its notes with yours.

Prices (checked October 7, 2026): on Granola's pricing page, Basic is free with 30 days of meeting history, Business is $14 a user a month, and Enterprise $35. It covers 31 languages on desktop and 17 on mobile. Our Granola alternatives guide compares it in more depth.

Best for: people who take most meetings at a laptop and like to type alongside the AI.

How to pick in five minutes

Answer these four questions and the list gets short:

  1. Where do your meetings happen? Mostly video calls: Otter, Fireflies, Fathom, or Granola. In rooms, cars, and on site: ParrotNotes.
  2. What languages do you speak, and what language do you read? If they differ, you need translation built in. Check the language map above.
  3. Do people mix languages in one conversation? Choose a tool that handles code-switching, not one that picks a single language per meeting.
  4. How many hours do you record a month? Add up last month's meetings and pick a plan with headroom.

How to switch from Notta without losing anything

  1. Export your transcripts before your plan renews, so your archive stays with you.
  2. Test a real mixed-language recording. Pick a conversation with accents or language switching and run it through the tool you're considering.
  3. Check where the translation sits. Confirm it's part of the plan, not an add-on.
  4. Run a full week of your actual meetings before you commit.
  5. Cancel at renewal, once the new tool has carried your workload.

Ready to hear your next meeting in the language you read? Try ParrotNotes free, record on your phone, and get the transcript, summary, and action items before you've left the parking lot.
