Nadia wore her Limitless Pendant to every client meeting for a year. It captured the conversations, the app wrote the summaries, and she stopped taking notes by hand. Then she read the banner on the Limitless website: the company had been acquired by Meta, the Pendant was no longer sold, and support was promised "throughout 2026." It's October. (Nadia is a composite of the consultants and managers we write for, not a real customer.)
If you're in her position, or you've just read a glowing 2024 review and found the Pendant unavailable, you need a Limitless Pendant alternative that won't leave you stranded again.
This guide covers what happened, a four-step exit plan for current owners, and six alternatives with every price checked on the maker's own page on October 7, 2026. If you'd rather test the no-extra-device route while you read, download ParrotNotes free and record your next conversation on the phone you already carry.
What happened to the Limitless Pendant
Here's what the Limitless website says, checked October 7, 2026:
- The company was acquired by Meta. "Limitless has been acquired by Meta."
- Sales stopped. "We are no longer selling the Pendant as of December 5, 2025."
- Owners stopped paying. Existing customers get the Unlimited Plan for free: "You'll no longer need to pay a subscription."
- Support has an end date in sight. "We will continue to support existing Pendant customers throughout 2026."
- Some regions already lost service. On December 5, 2025, service ended in Brazil, China, the European Union, Israel, South Korea, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, and owners there had until December 19, 2025 to download their data.
Limitless hasn't said what happens to the Pendant after 2026. So if yours still works, the useful question is what you'll use in January.
If you own a Pendant: a four-step exit plan
- Export everything now. Limitless says it added a feature to export all your data. Do it while the service is up, and keep the export somewhere you control.
- Write down what you used it for. Client meetings, personal reminders, all-day capture? The answer decides which alternative fits.
- Run the replacement alongside it for two weeks. Record the same conversations both ways and compare the notes, not the spec sheets.
- Delete what you no longer need. Limitless also lets you delete your data from the app once your export is safe.
Whatever you switch to, the consent rules don't change. A pendant that records everyone nearby is still a recorder. Our guide to one-party consent states covers where you need everyone's permission.

6 Limitless Pendant alternatives
1. ParrotNotes: best if you want to stop buying devices
ParrotNotes is our app, so weigh this entry with that in mind. Its pitch to a Limitless owner is simple: the replacement is already in your pocket, charged every night, and it doesn't depend on a hardware maker's next acquisition.
Tap record, lock the screen, and put the phone on the table. Recording works offline, and the transcript and AI run once you're connected. Every recording gets an AI summary. Pro adds action items and a drafted follow-up email on every recording, speaker ID, AI semantic search across your notes, and 99+ languages with translation, so a meeting held in Spanish can come back as English notes. It runs on iOS, Android, and macOS, with no meeting bot.
Cost (checked October 7, 2026, parrotnotes.app/pricing): Free includes 100 minutes of recording a month, an AI summary on every recording, 5 AI-powered recordings a month, and unlimited written notes. Pro is $19.99 a month, or $14.99 a month billed annually, with 3,000 minutes a month and recordings up to 3 hours.
Best for: consultants, managers, and field reps who used the Pendant mainly for meetings and client conversations.
2. Plaud NotePin: best press-to-record wearable
The Plaud NotePin is the closest wearable for people who liked wearing a recorder but don't need it running all day. Plaud lists 20 hours of continuous recording, 40 days of standby, 64 GB of storage, and transcription in 112 languages. The NotePin S, with a tactile button and four ways to wear it, lists at $179.
Cost (checked October 7, 2026, Plaud plans): $159 for the device. Starter is free with 300 transcription minutes a month. Pro is $17.99 a month, or $8.33 a month billed annually, for 1,200 minutes. Unlimited is $29.99 a month, or $19.99 a month billed annually.
Watch for: it records when you press, so it won't catch the conversations you didn't plan. Our PLAUD Note review works out the first-year cost on each plan.
3. Omi: closest to the Pendant's always-on capture
Omi is the nearest thing to what the Pendant did: a pendant you wear and leave running. It lists 10 to 14 hours of battery, 25+ languages, offline recording that syncs afterwards, and open-source code you can inspect or run locally.
Cost (checked October 7, 2026, Omi pricing): $179 normally, shown at $129 as a limited-time price. The free plan includes unlimited on-phone transcription plus 300 cloud minutes a month. Unlimited is $269 a year.
Watch for: always-on capture records everyone nearby, so plan how you'll ask for consent.
4. soundcore Work: best for clipping to your collar
Anker's soundcore Work clips to a collar, hangs on a necklace, or attaches to your phone. Anker lists 8 hours of recording, 32 hours with the charging case, and 150+ languages.
Cost (checked October 7, 2026): $159 regular price (a coupon was showing). New users get 300 free transcription minutes a month. Pro is $15.99 a month or $99.99 a year; Unlimited is $239.99 a year.
Watch for: 8 hours on its own means topping up from the case on a long day.
5. Bee: cheapest wearable, now owned by Amazon
Bee Pioneer is a $49.99 wristband or clip with a 7-day battery and 40 languages. Bee says it never stores audio: conversations are processed in real time, then deleted. A short press mutes it.
Cost (checked October 7, 2026): $49.99, shown as sold out on the day we checked. Bee lists no paid plan yet and says a Premium monthly subscription will come "in the future."
Watch for: Bee ships only to the United States, its app is iOS-first, and it's owned by Amazon, so it's another startup that now answers to a large company. Our Bee AI review covers it in detail.
6. Your phone's built-in recorder: best free stopgap
Voice Memos on iPhone and Recorder on a Pixel record and transcribe for free. They're a fine bridge while you test a replacement, though turning a transcript into next steps is up to you. Our PLAUD Note alternatives list covers what each built-in app does.

Map your Limitless habits to a replacement
| What you used the Pendant for | Replacement that fits |
|---|---|
| Client and team meetings | ParrotNotes on your phone: summary on every recording, plus action items and a follow-up draft |
| Meetings in more than one language | ParrotNotes Pro: 99+ languages, with translation into the language you read |
| All-day, hands-free capture | Omi, worn and left running |
| A wearable you switch on for one conversation | Plaud NotePin or soundcore Work |
| Finding something said last week | ParrotNotes Pro AI semantic search across your notes |
| No extra device to charge or lose | ParrotNotes, or your phone's built-in recorder |
Notice how many rows don't need a pendant at all. If most of your answers in step 2 were meetings, remember that a meeting has a table to put a phone on.
How to choose a Limitless Pendant alternative
Ask three questions:
- Do you need capture you never start? If yes, Omi is the closest match. If you only record conversations you plan, press-to-record or a phone does the job.
- How much do you trust the next hardware startup? Limitless was acquired, and Bee was too. A phone app keeps your notes off a gadget that can be discontinued.
- Where do your conversations happen? Around a table, in a car, on a site visit? Our wearable AI voice recorder guide has a 10-question scorecard for wearable versus phone, and the best AI voice recorder roundup puts apps and devices side by side.
Nadia exported her Limitless data, ran ParrotNotes next to the Pendant for two weeks, and found every client meeting covered by the phone already on the table. When January comes, she won't need a new pendant.
If your week looks like hers, download ParrotNotes free and record your next three meetings before you buy another device.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Limitless Pendant discontinued?
Yes. Limitless was acquired by Meta, and its website says it stopped selling the Pendant on December 5, 2025. Existing owners get the Unlimited Plan free, and Limitless says it will support them throughout 2026. It hasn't said what happens after that.
What is the best Limitless Pendant alternative?
It depends on how you used it. For meetings and client conversations, ParrotNotes turns the phone you already carry into the recorder, with an AI summary on every recording. For always-on capture, Omi is the closest wearable. For a press-to-record wearable, the Plaud NotePin or soundcore Work.
Can I still use my Limitless Pendant?
In supported regions, yes, for now. Limitless says it will support existing Pendant customers throughout 2026. Service already ended in Brazil, China, the European Union, Israel, South Korea, Turkey, and the United Kingdom on December 5, 2025.
How do I get my data out of Limitless?
Limitless says it added an in-app feature to export all your data, and you can also delete your data from the app. Export it while the service is still supported and store the file somewhere you control.
Do I need a wearable to replace the Limitless Pendant?
Only if you want capture you never start. For planned conversations, a phone on the table works, needs no extra charger, and doesn't depend on a hardware maker staying in business. ParrotNotes has a free plan with 100 minutes of recording a month and an AI summary on every recording.
