Priya runs client workshops for a consulting firm in Denver. On a Monday in October she has two tabs open: Amazon's new Bee Frontier at $74.99, and PLAUD's NotePin S at $179. Both clip to her jacket. Both promise to turn a day of talk into notes. One costs less than half the other. (Priya is a composite, an illustration rather than a real customer.)
The price gap is the first thing anyone notices in a Bee AI vs PLAUD comparison. It isn't the most important one. Bee throws the audio away after it writes your summary. PLAUD keeps every second of it. That single design choice decides which device suits your work far more than the sticker does.
You probably already sense that these two aren't quite the same kind of product. This guide makes the difference concrete. Every price and spec comes from Bee's and PLAUD's own websites, checked on October 29, 2026, and nobody here tested either device. You'll get the line-ups matched device for device, a side-by-side table, the two-year cost of seven setups, and a five-question fit test.

Bee AI vs PLAUD: the quick verdict
Bee is a low-cost personal memory aid: $74.99 for the wearable, summaries and to-dos from your day, and no audio kept. PLAUD is a work recorder: $159 to $189 per device, the full recording kept, transcripts in 112+ languages and a minutes-based plan.
Pick Bee if you want a cheap, week-long wearable that reminds you what you talked about and what you promised to do. Pick PLAUD if you need to replay what someone said, record long meetings or phone calls, or hand a transcript to someone else.
Bee's catch is the plan. Free use keeps only 14 days of history, and most of the useful extras sit behind Bee Pro at $11.99 a month. PLAUD's catch is the meter: 300 free transcription minutes a month, then a subscription.
What changed at Bee in October 2026
If you read about Bee before mid-October, some of it is out of date. Amazon bought Bee in 2025. On October 15, 2026, it launched the first new hardware since the deal, as TechCrunch reported:
- Bee Frontier ($74.99): the new wearable, for the wrist or clipped to clothing. It's on sale now through Amazon.
- Bee Eclipse ($99.99): a card-sized device that attaches magnetically to the back of your phone. Bee's page says it "will be available" and gives no ship date.
- Bee Pro ($11.99 a month or $99.99 a year): a paid plan with unlimited history, desktop apps and integrations. Every new customer gets 30 days free.
The older $49.99 Bee Pioneer, the one our Bee AI review covered in September, is no longer listed on Bee's site. Two other changes matter for this comparison. Bee's product page now says the app is "available on iOS and Android." And the paid tier Bee had only announced in September now has a price.
The line-ups, matched device for device
The fairest way to run Bee vs PLAUD is by form factor. Each brand now has a wearable and a card that sits on the back of your phone, though Bee's card is announced rather than shipping.

Note that the battery figures measure different things. Bee lists how long the Frontier lasts between charges while you wear it. PLAUD lists how many hours of audio the pin can record. Bee's mics also switch off on their own after a stretch of silence, which you can set from 5 minutes to 24 hours.
For more on the PLAUD side, our PLAUD NotePin review goes through the pin in detail.

The Eclipse is Bee's answer to the PLAUD Note, which already clips to the back of a phone the same way. Until it ships, Bee doesn't sell a device it markets for phone calls. Our PLAUD Note review covers the Note's call mode and its limits.
Bee AI vs PLAUD side by side
Here's the whole Bee AI vs PLAUD picture in one table, brand against brand.

Plan details: Bee Pro and PLAUD's plan pricing page, both read on October 29, 2026. Prices are US dollars before tax.
Read the table by column and the two brands' goals show. Bee wants to be a personal assistant that knows your week and connects to Alexa and Amazon. PLAUD wants to be the recorder you bring to a meeting, with 10,000+ summary templates and many export formats.

The biggest difference: Bee deletes the audio, PLAUD keeps it
This is the part of any Bee AI vs PLAUD decision that matters most for work.
Bee says audio is "processed instantly and then deleted." What you keep is the transcript, the summary and the to-dos. Bee adds that "not even Amazon can access your data unless you choose to share it." For the people you talk to, that's a real privacy plus: no tape of them exists.
PLAUD, by contrast, keeps the recording. The Note and NotePin store up to 64 GB of audio on the device, and recordings sync to the PLAUD app, where transcription and summaries run against your plan's minutes. If the transcript mishears a number, you can play the moment back.
Marcus sells HVAC systems to property managers in Atlanta. (Marcus is a composite.) A client says on a site walk that she'll approve the larger unit if the install happens before December 1. Two weeks later her office manager asks what was agreed. With a recording, Marcus plays back twenty seconds. With only a summary that says "client open to upgrade," he has nothing to point to.
So ask yourself one question first: will I ever need to hear exactly what someone said? If yes, Bee is out, whichever model you look at.
Consent applies to both
A wrist band or a pin can look like jewelry, so people may not know it's listening. In the US, some states require everyone in the conversation to agree to a recording. Our guide to one-party consent states has the state-by-state picture. This isn't legal advice: tell people you're recording, and stop if anyone says no.
Plans and the two-year cost: a worked example
The device price is only the first bill. Here's what seven setups cost over one and two years, using annual billing where it exists and list prices from October 29, 2026, before tax and shipping.
| Setup | Year one | Two years | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bee Frontier, free plan | $74.99 | $74.99 | Summaries, 14 days of history after the 30-day Pro trial |
| Bee Frontier + Bee Pro (annual) | $174.98 | $274.97 | Unlimited history, to-dos, desktop, integrations |
| Bee Eclipse + Bee Pro (annual), once it ships | $199.98 | $299.97 | The same, plus phone calls |
| PLAUD NotePin, Starter | $159.00 | $159.00 | 300 transcription minutes a month |
| PLAUD NotePin + Pro (annual) | $258.96 | $358.92 | 1,200 minutes a month |
| PLAUD Note Pro + Unlimited (annual) | $429.00 | $669.00 | No monthly minute cap, display, call detection |
| ParrotNotes Pro on your phone (annual) | $179.88 | $359.76 | 3,000 recording minutes a month, no device |
The arithmetic
- Bee Frontier + Pro: $74.99 + $99.99 = $174.98. Year two adds another $99.99, for $274.97.
- Bee Eclipse + Pro: $99.99 + $99.99 = $199.98, then $299.97.
- PLAUD NotePin + Pro: $159.00 + (12 x $8.33 = $99.96) = $258.96, then $358.92.
- PLAUD Note Pro + Unlimited: $189.00 + (12 x $20.00 = $240.00) = $429.00, then $669.00.
- ParrotNotes Pro: 12 x $14.99 = $179.88 a year, $359.76 over two.
Monthly billing costs more: Bee Pro is $143.88 a year that way, PLAUD Pro $215.88 and PLAUD Unlimited $359.88. A PLAUD sale cuts the device line (the NotePin was $110.99 on October 29), not the plan.
What the numbers mean
Bee is the cheapest way in, by a wide margin, as long as 14 days of history is enough. Paid plans shrink the gap in proportion, not in dollars. On the devices alone, Bee costs less than half of PLAUD. Over two years with paid plans, Bee Frontier plus Pro ($274.97) is about 23% cheaper than PLAUD NotePin plus Pro ($358.92).
PLAUD's free 300 minutes is five hours a month: about fifteen 20-minute meetings. PLAUD says minutes reset each billing month and "do not carry over." If you run out, the device keeps recording, but transcription pauses until the reset or a top-up.
However, Bee's pages don't list a monthly minute limit on either plan. What changes on the free plan is how long your history lasts.
Which one fits your week? Five questions
Answer these in order. The first "yes" usually decides it.
- Do you need to replay exact words later? Quotes, numbers, promises a client made. Yes: PLAUD (or a phone app). Bee keeps no audio.
- Do you record phone calls? Yes: PLAUD Note or Note Pro today. Bee Eclipse isn't shipping yet, Bee doesn't list calls for the Frontier, and PLAUD says the NotePin doesn't record them.
- Do you work in more than one language? Bee lists 40+ languages and PLAUD 112+. If your meetings switch between languages, check yours on both lists.
- Is this mostly for your own life, not for clients? Errands, ideas, family plans, a record of who you met. Yes: Bee Frontier fits, and the free plan may be enough.
- Is your budget under $100 for everything? Yes: Bee Frontier on the free plan is the only device setup here that fits.
Priya, from the start of this guide, scored "yes" on question 1. Her workshops end with a client asking, "What exactly did we agree on pricing?" She chose a recorder that keeps the audio.
Her colleague Leo, who wanted a nudge about the follow-ups he forgets after networking events, scored "yes" on questions 4 and 5 and picked the Bee. (Leo is also a composite.) Same office, different jobs, two right answers.
Where a phone app fits
Bee vs PLAUD assumes you want another device. Many people don't. The phone in your pocket has a good microphone and is already charged, and nobody wonders what the pin on your jacket is.
ParrotNotes turns that phone into an AI note-taker for work conversations. To be fair to both devices, here's where it lands:
- Audio: kept, like PLAUD. Play it back, or delete it and keep the transcript.
- Cost: $0 to start. The free plan has 100 recording minutes a month (up to 30 minutes per recording) and an AI summary on every recording. Pro is $19.99 a month, or $14.99 a month billed annually, with 3,000 minutes a month and recordings up to 3 hours. Details on our pricing page.
- Languages: 99+, with translation into another language on Pro.
- Platforms: iOS, Android and macOS.
- Where a device wins: a pin or a card records without touching your phone's battery, and Bee's week-long wearable is easier to forget you're wearing.
Our guide to the wearable AI voice recorder vs the phone in your pocket goes deeper on that trade-off, and ParrotNotes vs PLAUD Note compares the app and PLAUD's card head to head.
Dana, a commercial insurance agent in Charlotte, priced all three. (Dana is a composite.) She meets small-business owners for 15 minutes at a time, five times a day, and needs the follow-up email written before her next stop. She already had her phone on the table for every meeting. Recording there, with each owner's permission, got her the transcript, the summary and a follow-up draft without buying or charging anything new.

The bottom line on Bee AI vs PLAUD
The Bee AI vs PLAUD choice comes down to what you need after the conversation ends:
- A reminder of what happened: Bee. It's cheap, light and lasts a week, and it deletes the audio by design.
- Proof of what was said: PLAUD. It keeps the recording, handles calls on the Note line, and needs a paid plan above 300 transcription minutes a month.
- Plans change the math: Bee costs less than half of PLAUD on the device alone, but only about 23% less over two years with paid plans.
- Bee's call device isn't here yet: the Eclipse is announced, not shipping.
- You may not need a device: your phone can keep the audio and write the notes.
Check both vendors' pages again before you buy, since prices and sales move. If you want more options than these two brands, our best AI voice recorder guide compares apps and devices. Frequently Asked Questions
Is Bee AI better than PLAUD?
Neither is better overall. Bee is better for low-cost personal memory: $74.99, a week of battery, summaries and to-dos. PLAUD is better for work, because it keeps the audio, records phone calls on the Note and Note Pro, and transcribes in 112+ languages.
Does Bee AI need a subscription?
No, but the free plan keeps only 14 days of history. Bee Pro costs $11.99 a month or $99.99 a year and adds unlimited history, suggested to-dos, the desktop app and integrations. New customers get 30 days of Pro free, as of October 29, 2026.
Does Bee record audio like PLAUD does?
No. Bee says audio is "processed instantly and then deleted," so you keep the transcript and summary but can't replay the recording. PLAUD stores the audio on the device (up to 64 GB) and in its app.
Can Bee or PLAUD record phone calls?
PLAUD Note and Note Pro can, from the back of your phone; the Note Pro switches to call mode on its own. Bee's phone-call device, the $99.99 Bee Eclipse, was announced in October 2026 but had no ship date on October 29.
Which is cheaper over two years, Bee or PLAUD?
Bee Frontier on the free plan is cheapest at $74.99. With paid plans billed annually, Bee Frontier plus Bee Pro costs $274.97 over two years and PLAUD NotePin plus Pro costs $358.92, at list prices on October 29, 2026.
