Slowed and Reverb Maker

Slow a song or a voice clip down, let the pitch sink with it, and wrap it in reverb. Adjust the speed, the room size and the mix while it plays, then save MP3 or WAV. Everything runs in your browser.

Drop a song or voice clip here or click to browse

MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, OGG, OPUS, FLAC, WEBM or MP4, up to 100 MB and 10 minutes.

The file stays on your device: it is processed in your browser and not uploaded. What you do with the result is up to you and your rights to the music.

How to make a slowed and reverb edit

  1. 1

    Add the file

A song or a voice clip from your device, up to 100 MB and 10 minutes. Your browser decodes it; nothing is sent anywhere.

  2. 2

    Slow it down

Pick a speed from 0.7× to 1×. The panel shows the new length and how many semitones the pitch falls.

  3. 3

    Shape the room

Set the reverb length and the mix, press Play preview and keep moving the sliders while it plays. Flip to Original to compare.

  4. 4

    Render and save

Press Make slowed + reverb. The page renders the full track with its reverb tail, then you play it back and download MP3 or WAV.

Want the opposite, faster and higher? Try the Nightcore Maker. Slower but in the original key is a job for the Audio Speed Changer.

Where slowed and reverb comes from

Slowing records down is older than the internet trend. Houston DJ Screw built a style around it, usually dated to about 1990: whole mixtapes pulled down to around 60 to 70 beats per minute, with the voices sinking along with the tempo. That style, chopped and screwed, also cut and repeated phrases on two turntables.

The slowed + reverb version that spread on YouTube and later TikTok drops the chopping and keeps two moves: play the song slower and wash it in reverb, so it sounds distant, heavy and a little dreamy. Wikipedia credits Jarylun Moore, who posts as slater!, with uploading such remixes from 2017, many of them made in the free editor Audacity.

There is no standard speed. This page starts at 0.85×, a drop of about 2.8 semitones, which keeps most vocals recognizable; go toward 0.75× for a heavier feel.

What each speed does to pitch, tempo and length

The fall in semitones is 12 × log2(speed). The last two columns follow a 120 BPM song that runs 3:20, before the reverb tail is added.

Below 1× the pitch rarely lands on a whole semitone, so the edit sits between the keys of a piano. That only matters if you want to play or sing along.

How the reverb on this page works

Reverb is the cloud of reflections a room adds after a sound. This page builds it by convolution: every sample of your track triggers a copy of an impulse response, the sound a room makes after one sharp click.

  • A generated room

The impulse response is filtered noise that starts after a 20 ms gap and fades, getting darker as it goes, the way walls soak up high frequencies first. No recording of a real hall is used.

  • Room size is decay time

The slider sets RT60, the time the tail takes to fall by 60 dB, from 0.5 to 6 seconds. About 1 second sounds like a room, 4 or more like a large hall.

  • The mix keeps loudness steady

Dry and wet levels follow an equal-power curve, so moving the mix changes the balance more than the volume. If a peak would clip, the whole file is turned down by one amount.

  • The tail is kept

The saved file runs longer than the slowed track by the reverb length plus 20 ms, so the last note fades out instead of being cut off.

Need to cut the intro first? Use the Audio Trimmer. Want more low end under the slowed track? Finish it in the Bass Booster.

What it does not do

  • No pitch-locked slow-down

Speed and pitch move together by one ratio, which is the sound people mean by slowed. For the same tempo change in the original key, use the Audio Speed Changer.

  • Files only, no links

It needs a file on your device. It does not fetch YouTube, Spotify or TikTok links, and protected downloads will not open.

  • No video or artwork

The result is an audio file. Each export is a fresh MP3 or 16-bit WAV encode.
