8D Audio Converter
An 8D audio maker in your browser: drop a song or recording and it moves in a slow circle around your head, with a touch of room, so it feels like it plays all around you on headphones. Preview the first 30 seconds, then download it as MP3 or WAV. The file is not uploaded.
Put on headphones: 8D audio only works when each ear hears its own side.

How to make 8D audio
Three steps, in your browser. Use headphones.
- 1
Drop the song
MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC and other common formats up to 100 MB and 30 minutes.
- 2
Set the circle and preview
Choose how long one circle takes (4 to 20 seconds), how wide it travels and how much room to add. Preview the first 30 seconds and switch between Original and 8D while it plays.
- 3
Convert and download
The whole file is rendered with the browser's own audio engine, lowered as a whole if the room would make it clip, and saved as a stereo MP3 at the bitrate you choose or as a 16-bit WAV.
What the 8D audio converter does
Moves the sound in a circle
The song starts in front of you, travels to your right ear, passes behind you, reaches your left ear and comes back to the front. Behind you it is up to 3 dB quieter, which helps the ear place it at the back.
Speed and width
One circle every 8 seconds is the classic 8D feel. Shorter spins faster, longer drifts slowly. Width sets how far it goes to each ear; at 100 % it reaches all the way.
A room around it
A generated room reverb makes the sound feel a little further away and more around you, as in most 8D songs. Turn it to 0 % for a dry circle, or add warmth for a fuller low end.
No clipping
The room adds level. If the loudest moment would go past the top of the scale and distort, the page lowers the whole file just enough to keep the peak at -1 dB, and tells you.
What is 8D audio?
8D audio is an ordinary stereo track in which the sound is panned slowly around the listener, usually with some reverb, so that on headphones it seems to circle your head. The "8D" is a name, not a count of dimensions: there are two channels, left and right, and the effect comes from how the level moves between them.
It works on headphones because each ear hears only its own channel, so the brain reads the changing balance as movement. On speakers both ears hear both speakers, and the circle mostly turns into a gentle sway from side to side.
This converter mixes a stereo song to one channel first, then moves that channel around you. The song's own stereo width is replaced by the circle, which is what makes the movement clear.
Rotation time and feel
How the circle time changes the effect:
| One circle | Circles per minute | Feel |
|---|---|---|
| 4 s | 15 | Fast spin, dizzy |
| 6 s | 10 | Lively |
| 8 s | 7.5 | The classic 8D feel |
| 12 s | 5 | Slow and smooth |
| 16 s | 3.8 | Very slow drift |
| 20 s | 3 | Very slow drift |
When to use it
A song for headphones
Make an 8D version of a favourite track for a walk, a commute or a long flight. Slower circles are easier on long listening.
A study or relaxation playlist
Calm instrumentals with a slow circle and a little room make a pleasant background on headphones. Keep the volume low.
A video intro
A few seconds of a sound circling the viewer make an intro or a transition stand out. Trim the clip first with the Audio Trimmer, then convert it here.
Sound design
A short effect, a voice line or an ambience can circle the listener too. Try a faster circle and less room for a short sound.
